About the position

DEPCOM Power is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bedminster, NJ. This role focuses on the design and engineering of electrical systems for solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The position offers direct mentorship and hands-on experience in various electrical engineering disciplines, including DC, Medium Voltage (MV), and High Voltage (HV) design. The engineer will collaborate with CAD designers and support project execution while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a CAD Designer to prepare Electrical Design Packages for solar and energy storage projects.
• Prepare design-related reports and calculations, including load flow and grounding.
• Prepare product specifications and procurement support for assigned projects.
• Create bills of materials and scope of work documents for subcontract execution.
• Support the construction team by responding to RFIs from owners and subcontractors.
• Utilize AutoCAD for material take-offs and drafting edits as necessary.
• Conduct cost/benefit analyses for cable constructions and grounding schemes.
• Execute designs in accordance with DEPCOM standard engineering procedures.
• Coordinate with project delivery teams to provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Interface with external clients as needed.
• Travel up to 15% to job sites as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or in the process of earning one.
• Previous engineering and design experience.
• Understanding of electrical design calculations including load flow and protective device coordination.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.

Nice-to-haves

• Photovoltaic (PV) solar experience or general EPC experience.
• Experience in energy storage applications.
• EIT certificate with aspirations for PE license.
• Experience with power systems software suites such as SKM and AmpCalc.
