About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Mortenson, you will provide essential technical electrical support throughout construction projects. This field-based role requires a dynamic and motivated individual who can work collaboratively with various staff levels in a fast-paced environment, ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve the best layout of collection system considering constraints such as overhead/underground, follow roads/cross country, and junction box locations.
  • Perform system loss calculations (100% output/annualized).
  • Ensure subcontractors understand the project scope during the bidding process and provide electrical engineering resources throughout the project.
  • Review manufacturer provided data and determine the extent of scope for the electrical portion of the project, including wiring requirements and electrical characteristics.
  • Develop one-line diagrams of collection systems and substations, maintaining standard details of electrical construction typical to Mortenson projects.
  • Verify that construction aligns with electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings and quality assurance/quality control.
  • Run and own the electrical engineering design and equipment procurement through submittals, transmittals, and requests for information.
  • Communicate with local utilities to ensure integration with the electrical grid.
  • Provide technical expertise to all parties concerned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering by summer 2025.
  • Willingness to be mobile/relocate frequently for project assignments based on business needs.
  • Possess a current driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
