About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at Ghafari Associates, you will play a crucial role in providing engineering design and analysis for various electrical systems, including lighting, power, low voltage, and associated control systems. This position involves working on new construction and renovation projects across diverse sectors such as industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare. You will be expected to ensure that all designs conform to client requirements and applicable codes, while also developing construction documents for the installation and interconnection of architectural, electrical, and mechanical components. In this role, you will possess and demonstrate the engineering knowledge necessary to design and analyze electrical systems effectively. You will utilize applicable codes and standards to engineer lighting and power distribution systems, as well as low voltage systems, which may include fire alarm systems, telecommunications, data networks, and lighting control systems. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing and establishing project scope, electrical budgets, design approaches, and constraints in collaboration with the Project Manager or client. You will be responsible for preparing feasibility studies and schematic design packages, ensuring that all project documentation meets company and client standards. Effective communication and collaboration with other disciplines will be essential to produce coordinated construction documents. Additionally, you will conduct field measurements and checks at project sites, maintain organized project files, edit and draft project specifications, review project submittals for compliance, prepare project cost estimates, and respond to RFIs. This position requires a proactive approach to project quality, budget, and schedule adherence, along with the ability to perform related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design and analysis for lighting, power, low voltage, and associated control systems.
  • Design and engineer lighting and power distribution systems, including low voltage systems such as fire alarm systems and telecommunications.
  • Review and establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting and power systems.
  • Produce construction documents in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure coordinated construction documents.
  • Conduct field measuring and checking at project sites.
  • Maintain organized project files containing calculations, schedules, and correspondence.
  • Edit and draft project specifications with assistance.
  • Review project submittals for conformance with contract documents and specify actions required for compliance.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and respond to RFIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of related and progressively more responsible experience in the electrical engineering field.
  • Experience with short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
