About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command involves analyzing and evaluating engineering designs, specifications, and system requirements for technical accuracy. The role requires collaboration with decision-makers to resolve discrepancies related to project requirements and to investigate construction issues, initiating corrective actions as necessary. The engineer will prepare electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications using electrical engineering design software, such as AutoCAD, and will work with management to develop research and analysis plans.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and evaluate engineering design, specifications, and system requirements for technical accuracy.
  • Collaborate with decision makers to identify and solve discrepancies related to project requirements.
  • Investigate construction to identify major problems and initiate corrective actions.
  • Prepare electrical design drawings, calculations, and specifications to accompany design models generated on electrical engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Collaborate with management to develop research and analysis plans.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree accredited by ABET or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an Electrical Engineer.
  • Experience in resolving routine electrical engineering problems in support of facility maintenance/repair projects.
  • Proficiency in preparing electrical engineering analysis, calculations, designs, and plans using AutoCAD and other electrical design/analysis software.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
