About the position

The Electrical Engineer at Pitco Frialator LLC is responsible for developing and maintaining electrical projects for commercial cooking equipment components. This role involves ensuring compliance with customer, manufacturing, and agency requirements while performing verification and validation testing of electrical systems. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to meet design expectations and project timelines, contributing to the launch of new programs and maintaining technical proficiency in the electrical sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain various electrical projects for commercial cooking equipment components while meeting all customer, manufacturing, and agency requirements.
  • Perform electrical system verification and validation testing.
  • Develop PCB layouts, perform component placements, and determine wire routings in addition to testing and analyzing system results.
  • Ensure designs implement proper technologies and techniques.
  • Work directly with customers, sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify customer requirements and establish design expectations.
  • Adhere to project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate activities to complete prototype and field testing to validate the design of components and assemblies.
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure smooth release of products into contract manufacturing.
  • Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks before reaching manufacturing.
  • Contribute to the launch of new programs with manufacturing.
  • Write technical papers on significant findings for sales training or publication in technical journals.
  • Maintain leading-edge technical proficiency and stay abreast of new trends in electrical sciences.
  • Work with other departments to obtain samples and test data.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks to document the creation and development of new inventions and prepare invention disclosures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong and proficient skills in electrical, schematic, and PCB design.
  • Design and document test fixtures for validation of PCB or electrical designs.
  • Knowledge of SPI, I2C, serial, and CAN bus communication protocols is a plus.
  • Familiarity with higher-layer protocols (i.e., TCP/UDP, Modbus) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming is a plus.
  • Demonstrable skills in creating formalized specification documentation, program flow charts, and operation manuals.
  • Functional knowledge of various electrical engineering principles.
  • Ability to read and understand hardware schematics and datasheets.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) software suites (i.e., Altium, OrCAD).
  • Ability to participate and work within multi-disciplinary product development teams.
  • Knowledge of software testing and evaluation is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Nice-to-haves
