About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Lincoln Electric involves participating in the Commercial Power Sources Team as a design engineer focused on developing and improving new and existing products. The role encompasses working on the design, specification, and documentation of electrical components and systems, particularly in arc welding and plasma cutting technologies. The engineer will engage in various activities including circuit design, PCB layout, testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work in R&D on the design, specification, and documentation of electrical components and systems.
  • Design and test circuits, PCB layouts, and electromagnetic devices as required.
  • Develop test specifications for production use.
  • Analyze product field failure specimens for root cause identification and corrective action.
  • Perform and supervise the testing of new designs and warranty improvements.
  • Coordinate activities of technical support personnel.
  • Engineer safe, high-quality, cost-effective, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible parts and machines.
  • Engage in Voice of Customer actions and evaluate market needs.
  • Support sales, marketing, service, and customer issues as required.
  • Revitalize and rationalize legacy products to improve quality.
  • Support supply chain initiatives and create designs with common parts.
  • Collaborate with various departments to establish and achieve objectives.
  • Interact with suppliers, customers, distributors, and sales engineers occasionally.
  • Engage with global teams and suppliers to reduce overall costs.
  • Establish and support corporate strategic projects and contribute to strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 3 - 8+ years of experience in research and/or product development.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform hands-on work.
