About the position

The Electrical Engineer position within the Department of the Navy involves performing quality assurance reviews of engineering designs and specifications, managing design projects, and coordinating with various engineering disciplines. The role requires technical administration of design efforts and participation in selection boards for architectural and engineering services. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Monterey, CA, with a salary range of $108,245 to $140,713 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by private architectural and engineering design firms.
  • Manage design projects and coordinate efforts with other engineers and architects involved in multi-discipline projects.
  • Act as the focal point for submittal review and ensure comments are resolved and incorporated into designs.
  • Participate on selection boards for the procurement of architectural and engineering services and Technical Evaluation Teams for design and construction services.
  • Make recommendations for corrective/preventive measures and prepare sketches or change order drawings, cost estimates, and specifications.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and/or foreign laws, codes, and statutory requirements affecting electrical engineering design.
  • Experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office products, and electrical engineering design and analysis software.
  • Budgeting, planning, and project management skills with the ability to coordinate the work of others and lead teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
