About The Position

The National Security Sector of Leidos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) at the Navy Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, Rhode Island. This facility serves as the depot-level repair activity for the U.S. Navy's surface ship and submarine towed sonar arrays, operating under a Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) model. The successful candidate will play a crucial role as one of the electrical engineers responsible for the maintenance and repair of these sophisticated sonar systems. In this position, the electrical engineer will conduct engineering investigations to address various technical issues, employing industry best practices and performing necessary calculations. The engineer will be responsible for documenting investigation findings, which will include methodologies, tests conducted, and recommendations for solutions. If the recommendations involve the construction of new components or systems, the engineer will provide detailed diagrams and lists of required materials. Additionally, the engineer will assist in investigations related to material and equipment obsolescence, identifying suitable replacements to ensure the continued functionality of the sonar arrays. Troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical and electronic components, such as relays and power supplies, will also be key responsibilities. The role will require the development of scripts and programs for various types of programmable controllers, enhancing the operational capabilities of the systems being supported.
