About the position

The Electrical Engineer at AIT plays a crucial role in supporting custom-designed solutions for large-scale automated aerospace assembly systems. This position involves active participation throughout the project lifecycle, focusing on control system design and development for various applications, including microprocessor-based servo motion control and network communication. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and adherence to electrical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control systems and utilities for aerospace automation equipment, scaffolding, and tools following electrical standards and best practices.
  • Create and revise 2D electrical panel layouts and drawings in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Size and select system components based on design requirements that meet project schedule and budget.
  • Design tool network topologies with software engineering.
  • Perform cabling routing analysis with mechanical engineering.
  • Self-check and review all designs and drawings prior to final release.
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing and lab testing of electrical systems.
  • Aid in analyzing product failures and electrical configuration and design corrections.
  • Follow electrical design procedures, fill out required forms, and close all actions associated with internal and customer design processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical/electrical design, project management, and manufacturing.
  • Document and communicate problems encountered, troubleshooting steps taken, corrective actions, root cause, and next steps.
  • Manage requirements and break them into discrete tasks that can be tested and validated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years experience designing electrical control systems in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
  • Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a Secret security clearance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics (electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Understanding of automation, controls, electronics, and electrical equipment/systems.
  • Proficiency in computer-assisted design (AutoCAD Electrical) and other design and analysis software.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and deliver results with high-level judgment.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly and effectively.
  • Collaborative work style and ability to build strategic relationships with colleagues, coworkers, and contractors.
