About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at Wacker Chemical Corporation in Charleston, TN, involves performing electrical and automation engineering work to enhance the performance of chemical production units. The role focuses on ensuring safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximizing the efficiency of production units within the Silicones Engineering Department. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, support capital projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and automation engineering work to maintain and improve chemical production units.
  • Support and cooperate with Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering counterparts.
  • Maximize the availability of production units at required capacity and quality.
  • Support and maintain instrumentation and automation for production units.
  • Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering.
  • Support process and technology transfer between WACKER HDK production sites.
  • Conduct or coordinate debottlenecking and troubleshooting activities within packaging production units.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost.
  • Develop and support preventative maintenance plans such as ITPMs.
  • Compile and provide technical reports related to area of responsibility.
  • Supervise 3rd party providers for engineering and maintenance services.
  • Represent WACKER's interests toward suppliers and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Computer Science Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Thorough technical knowledge in electrical, instrumentation, or automation engineering including relevant regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams.
  • Strong multitasking competency.
  • Ability to perform in an environment of schedule and cost pressure.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Siemens Drives/PLC, Delta V instrumentation and automation, especially related to material handling and packaging.
