About the position

i3 is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support a unique and complex Army engineering effort located in Huntsville, Alabama. The qualified candidate will be responsible for providing high-level technical and engineering support and leadership. The position involves collaborating with civilian government personnel and a diverse team of engineering professionals to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved. The candidate can expect up to 10% travel. This position is contingent upon contract award, estimated late September timeframe. The Electrical Engineer will develop design solutions in collaboration with a technical team and progress those solutions from concept through implementation. This includes conducting analysis to support and substantiate design approaches, generating test plans, technical reports, calculation packages, and presentations documenting the work performed. The role also involves designing and developing electrical hardware, including power supply, cable connectors, and ruggedization enhancements for electrical components. The engineer will support integration and verification testing in laboratory and field environments, working alongside an interdisciplinary team of engineers. In addition, the engineer will present designs and technical supporting data to internal teammates and customers, work closely with the Design Team on the generation of design drawings, and provide oversight, review, and approval of drawings and system schematics. The job may include the generation of design drawings and system schematics, performing failure analysis and investigations to identify and implement solutions, and supporting engineering efforts in preparation for milestone reviews such as Critical Design Reviews (CDRs). The engineer will assist in developing procurement documentation to support design efforts and coordinate with key vendors and/or suppliers. The role may also involve reviewing and mentoring lower-level engineers if applicable.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the design and analysis of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge and/or experience designing, developing, and testing electronic and digital circuits.
  • Knowledge and/or experience operating electronic test equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and/or experience with C/C++ and Python languages.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers as required.
