About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at DLR Group, you will play a crucial role in the design of electrical systems across a diverse range of building types. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, from initial schematics through to construction administration. This position is integral to our mission of elevating the human experience through design, and you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create innovative and functional electrical systems that meet the needs of our clients and communities. In this role, you will assist in developing project objectives and documentation policies, ensuring that all electrical designs align with the overall project goals. You will be tasked with developing electrical designs from concept through to the completion of construction, which includes preparing engineering design calculations and layouts. Additionally, you will prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives that document the design process and decisions made throughout the project. Coordination is key in this position, as you will work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure that all electrical design requirements are met. Your expertise will contribute to the successful integration of electrical systems within the broader context of each project, enhancing the functionality and sustainability of the buildings we design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
  • Develop electrical designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and layouts.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Coordinate electrical design requirements with architecture, mechanical, and other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • 4+ years experience as an Electrical Designer designing power and lighting building systems on complex projects.
  • Experience with BIM (Autodesk MEP), specifically Revit.
  • Experience with consulting engineering or A/E firm as an electrical engineer designing power, lighting, and low voltage systems for Commercial Educational, Civic, or Government projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
