About the position

The Electrical Engineer at Coeur Rochester Inc. is responsible for managing high voltage contractor operations, overseeing electrical document management, project planning, and parts coordination. This role involves ensuring the maintenance of power distribution systems and the upkeep of medium and low voltage switch gear and protection devices. The position requires effective communication across departments and the ability to make sound decisions in high-stress situations, with a focus on safety and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Red Lines conversion to Drawing Revisions for Limerick and Rochester Merrill Crowe and Crusher plants.
  • Corrections and Revisions for Engineered Load studies and reports, Short-Circuit studies and reports, Protection Device Coordination studies and reports, Arc Flash studies, reports, and labelling.
  • Project engineering corrections for power distribution, such as incorrect overhead switching and fusing on 4160-volt power poles.
  • Project engineering for Limerick and Rochester sites.
  • Electrical project planning and part coordination.
  • Manage high voltage contractor's work scope, policies, and procedures to align with CRI critical controls and procedures.
  • Ensure minimum expectations are established for high-risk work and critical equipment is present for LOTOTO procedures prior to mobilization.
  • Manage the Primary Crusher area fuel island and gyro rebuild pad for electrical power and lighting.
  • Electrical SOP builds and revisions for Rochester and Limerick.
  • PM corrections for Limerick.
  • Lockout electrical matrix designs for Limerick.
  • Correcting and building Electrical maintenance grouping, labelling, at Limerick.
  • Power line change safety action item for Rochester process area power lines.
  • Manage the punch list for Limerick for completion.
  • Manage NFPA required medium and low voltage maintenance of all switch gear and protection devices.
  • Assist contractors with project commissioning to help ensure projects are completed on time and in a safe manner.
  • Install and maintain control network equipment as needed.
  • Maintain an open channel of communication between various departments to ensure needs and concerns are addressed.
  • Ability to make sound decisions during high-stress situations.
  • Assist the Electrical Department with equipment installation and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ability to work as needed to support production down days, equipment failures/troubleshooting, callouts, and project commissioning.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in-field technical experience in electrical engineering.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient with reading and understanding PFDs, P&IDs, Electrical Diagrams and schematics, loop diagrams, I/O diagrams, ISA Instrument Datasheets, control narrative, and cause and effects.
  • Ability to identify defects and deficiencies with purpose of providing remediation (Punch list management).
  • Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, PSM, MSHA, IEC 61131/61508, and ISA codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Oracle or similar purchasing, procurement, and maintenance software.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while enforcing safety, environmental, and company procedures and guidelines.
  • Recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure continuous improvement in the areas of project execution and efficient work practices.
  • Proven project management skills including demonstrated use of BI methodologies to deliver measurable results.
  • Proven success in implementing and managing change processes is required.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Monitor vendor agreements and performance to ensure service level standards are maintained and that all operational expenses are consistent with contractual obligations.
