About the position

The Electrical Engineer at Novelis Uhrichsville, OH, plays a crucial role in managing the Electrical Engineering function, which includes design, maintenance, construction, and installation of equipment modifications. This position is integral to ensuring the efficiency and reliability of plant operations, contributing to innovative solutions in aluminum recycling and rolling. The engineer will work closely with various machinery and collaborate with team members to address production challenges and optimize equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Solve encounters centered around meeting production needs in the face of tight, frequently revised schedules and/or equipment failures.
  • Optimize equipment utilization and efficiency by applying the latest developments in machine procedures and diagnostic equipment.
  • Develop practical solutions to repetitive equipment failure problems that contribute to the effectiveness of the maintenance effort.
  • Contribute engineering expertise to project work and selection of replacement or new equipment to ensure consistency and standardization of components.
  • Ensure all equipment recommended, repaired, or modified meets all company and governmental safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Assist in the development of engineering or maintenance procedures and repair work to ensure they are safe, effective, and efficient.
  • Expand knowledge of engineering and maintenance principles and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
  • 5 - 10 years of practicing electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with AC and DC motor control, Medium and Low Voltage switchgear, and electrical control systems.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities; manage multiple tasks without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Leadership skills to direct, lead, and develop other personnel.
  • Good digital literacy and experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD electrical.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine safety.
  • Vendor and contractor management experience.
  • Data analysis skills are a plus.
