About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at DivIHN involves hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment, along with supervising contract technicians and maintenance personnel. The role requires troubleshooting and process start-up of electrical and controls systems, modifying existing documentation, and ensuring efficient equipment installation practices. This position is primarily based in Wilmington, NC, with potential travel to other plants in Midland, Winston Salem, and Hickory. The duration of the role is 7 months, with variable hours expected.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.
  • Supervise and provide direction to contract engineering techs and maintenance personnel during equipment installation and conversion.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems.
  • Modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages and installation checklists.
  • Modify machine control programs for new or existing process equipment.
  • Assess condition and usability of existing equipment for new installation plans.
  • Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations.
  • Provide third-level troubleshooting support and direct contract engineering techs as necessary.
  • Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment.
  • Develop electrical installation checklists and schedules.
  • Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel in the installation of equipment.
  • Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required.
  • Modify software programs used for process equipment control.
  • Redline existing schematics and oversee draftsmen as required.
  • Provide training on new equipment installation procedures as required.
  • Re-design electrical components to reduce installation costs and solve equipment interferences.
  • Analyze and correct equipment installation practices to improve efficiencies.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and installation support.
  • Successful experience performing hands-on installation support for production equipment.
  • Experience in project management duties related to equipment installation practices.
  • Ability to supervise technicians and contract trades during equipment installation.
