About the position

Garver's Electrical team is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Rogers, Arkansas, responsible for managing and designing a variety of transportation electrical projects. The role involves project management, electrical design, and construction support, focusing on roadway lighting, EV charging, and electrical infrastructure improvements. The engineer will oversee projects from initial design through construction, ensuring quality and compliance with standards while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design and specification documents including one-line diagrams, power plans, and lighting plans under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and external firms to resolve conflicts between electrical infrastructure and other systems.
  • Engage with utilities and regulatory agencies to assess available services and design requirements.
  • Collaborate with government entities and clients to clarify project expectations and requirements during design submittals.
  • Assist the Electrical Team Leader in managing schedules, budgets, and ensuring quality work products.
  • Perform light level calculations for various systems requiring lighting.
  • Conduct voltage drop and electrical load calculations to ensure compliance with the National Electric Code.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and verify pay items to meet client requirements.
  • Ensure quality assurance and control of projects prior to internal or external reviews.
  • Research standards to ensure designs meet government guidelines and requirements.
  • Review transportation electrical systems for potential upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 3 years' experience in electrical engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EI/EIT) license.
  • Career goal to obtain PE registration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical skills to work with electrical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of Visual and/or AGI32.
  • Familiarity with Microstation, AutoCAD, and OpenRoads.
  • Experience working for multiple managers with varying expectations.
  • Passion for Electrical Projects.
