As an Electrical Engineer at SCHOTT North America, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, development, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within our facilities. Your responsibilities will include preparing project estimates, cost reports, schedules, and budgets specifically for electrical engineering and maintenance functions. You will support the development of investment plans for production equipment, physical plant, and infrastructure, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. In the design and development phase, you will be involved in activities aimed at developing, designing, and constructing process machinery and equipment. This includes supporting new construction projects and modifications to the physical plant and infrastructure. Staying informed about new technical developments is essential, as you will be expected to submit proposals for improvements to the physical plant, infrastructure, machinery, and equipment. Additionally, you will recommend the introduction of new procedures and the purchase and use of new infrastructure, machinery, and equipment to enhance operational efficiency. Your role will also encompass maintenance and repair responsibilities, where you will direct continuous electrical and electronic maintenance of the physical plant, infrastructure, process machinery, and equipment. You will plan and conduct special examinations of machinery, equipment, and processes to determine the causes of failures and implement corrective actions. Coordination of both internal trades labor and external contractors will be necessary for the completion of electrical installation, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks. Furthermore, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the electrical preventative maintenance program for process machinery, equipment, and physical plant infrastructure. As part of your supervisory duties, you will lead, support, and motivate employees in your areas of responsibility, which include the electronics shop and electrical shop. This will involve conducting performance appraisals, succession planning, personnel development, and training measures. You will also ensure that your employees are aware of and follow established policies, selecting employees who are properly qualified and trained, and setting an example by actively participating in improving safety and the environment. Lastly, you will oversee hazardous waste activities, ensuring that only trained employees perform tasks related to hazardous waste management, including the handling, inspection, and cleanup of hazardous waste materials.
