About the position

The Electrical Engineer at Tetra Tech will collaborate with a team of engineers and designers on various projects, focusing on the complete electrical package from preliminary assessments to detailed design phases. This role involves problem resolution, production of drawings and specifications, and ensuring client accessibility while managing multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering documents and drawings following specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Execute basic engineering calculations for cable and protection sizes.
  • Review vendor and manufacturer drawings and specifications.
  • Check electrical packages prior to submittal.
  • Coordinate deliverables with other disciplines and the project manager.
  • Oversee other team members within the discipline as needed.
  • Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with approximately 15-24 years of experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Power Distribution, Electrical Rooms, MCCs, VFDs, Generation, Transmission, and heavy industrial power systems from low to high voltage.
  • Technical knowledge of Instrumentation & Controls based on automatic process control systems like PLC and/or DCS.
  • Experience with P&IDs, PFDs, and specifying EI&C equipment.
  • Familiarity with the engineering and design process and project delivery for sustaining capital projects.
  • Ability to read/interpret specifications and construction drawings.
  • Experience in brownfield and greenfield type work.
  • Pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2023 or later, with Revit and 3D Design software as a plus.
  • Experience with industrial codes and generally accepted governing EI&C codes and standards.
  • Experience with MSHA/OSHA safety regulations preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business development and commercial proposal writing.
  • Knowledge in Excel and Word.
  • Experience with QA/QC drawings package.
