About the position

The Electrical Engineer position at TAI Engineers involves developing electrical systems for marine vessels and floating structures. The role requires performing calculations to assist in the design and fabrication of these vessels, with a focus on electrical distribution system design and compliance with various regulations. This position offers a competitive compensation package and the flexibility of hybrid work schedules, primarily remote work in specific states.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform conventional engineering work and complex engineering tasks with higher-level technical supervision.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Perform work involving conventional engineering practices, including addressing conflicting design requirements and coordination challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience for Junior level and 10+ years for Senior level positions.
  • Knowledge in electrical distribution system design development, arrangements, component selection, tradeoff analysis, electrical load analysis, ArcFlash hazard analysis, coordination studies, FMEA, and design integration.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with IEC, NEC, IEEE, ABS, CFR, USCG, SOLAS, IMO regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, EZpower, ETAP, MATLAB software is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience related to marine vessels such as oceangoing vessels, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, research vessels, tugs, and barges.
