About the position

APTIM is seeking an electrical engineer to join their team, focusing on Government and Commercial programs. The role involves applying critical thinking skills throughout various project phases, including planning, design, construction, and commissioning. Engineers are expected to be creative problem solvers, managing multiple projects while ensuring compliance with engineering codes and standards. The position emphasizes the importance of prior knowledge in the engineering and construction industry, as well as a professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce complete electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and supporting electrical calculations.
  • Perform in a project leadership role and supervise lower-level personnel in project work.
  • Provide resolution to complex problems requiring data analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Coordinate with other Engineers and Designers to engineer, plan, and detail components and systems.
  • Work with other Disciplines for complete multi-discipline design packages.
  • Assist with both the initial planning and design phases of projects.
  • Support procurement and construction phases of projects with engineering knowledge and experience.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Travel to work site locations to provide engineering support and conduct meetings with clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures in electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI codes and standards.
  • Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain it shortly after hire.
  • Strong computer skills with Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Training and experience with engineering analysis software (ETAP, SKM, Visual, etc.).
  • Training and/or experience with CADD (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation, etc.).
  • Good verbal and writing skills.

  • Factory, field, and/or construction experience.
  • Practical electrical skills.
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls systems.
