About the position

The EADS Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Somerset, PA office. This position is crucial for supporting our operations and requires a candidate who can work independently while collaborating closely with other engineering disciplines, including Professional Engineers, Architects, and Technicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and providing electrical solutions across various sectors, both private and public. This role involves a range of tasks including engineering calculations, design work, drawing preparation, cost estimating, proposal preparation, and direct client interaction. Attendance at client meetings and onsite construction visits to monitor project progress will also be part of the job responsibilities. The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that all electrical systems are designed to meet the specific needs of each project while adhering to relevant building codes and standards. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. The successful candidate will also be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that the quality of work remains high. Some travel within central and western Pennsylvania and Maryland is to be expected, which will involve visiting project sites and meeting with clients to discuss project requirements and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical solutions for various sectors, including private and public projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare design drawings.
  • Estimate costs and prepare proposals for electrical systems.
  • Interact with clients, attending meetings and conducting onsite visits to monitor construction progress.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, Professional Engineers, Architects, and Technicians.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree.
  • Experience in designing electrical systems for buildings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with proposal writing and scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, power and lighting design, specifications, and cost estimating.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer is preferred, but not required if the candidate is on the path to licensure.
