About the position

As an Electrical Engineer on the detector's development team at Varex Imaging Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of cutting-edge X-ray detectors. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the successful hardware design, bring-up, testing, and verification of the detector systems. You will be responsible for generating requirements and conducting experiments to validate the reliability of components and processes, ultimately contributing to the delivery of exceptional products that align with our mission to make the invisible visible. Your responsibilities will include designing hardware that supports the features outlined in the product definition, as well as troubleshooting and debugging issues related to circuit design, firmware, PCB, and component failures. You will engage in root cause analysis and testing to enhance the quality and reliability of our products. Additionally, you will coordinate with various teams, including electrical, mechanical, software, technical support, production, and suppliers, to facilitate the product release process. Your role will also involve participating in reviews conducted by other engineers and providing constructive feedback, as well as mentoring and developing junior engineers and technicians. This position requires a commitment to quality and innovation, as you will be at the forefront of developing technologies that have a significant impact on the medical imaging field. Your expertise will help ensure that our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability, ultimately benefiting our customers and the patients they serve.

Responsibilities

  • Designs hardware to support features that are contained in the product definition.
  • Conduct hardware and system bring-up, troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, testing, and verification.
  • Troubleshoot and debug noise and other issues down to root causes with respect to circuit design, firmware, PCB and component failures to improve quality and reliability.
  • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team: electrical, mechanical, software, technical support, production, and suppliers to release the product.
  • Participate in and support reviews held by other engineers on related projects and provide useful feedback.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuit board design
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with instruments such as high-speed oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience designing and debugging low noise analog and mixed-signal circuits such as op-amps, control loops, DACs, ADCs, FPGAs, DRAM memory interfaces, multi-GHz signals, linear, and switching regulators.
  • Experience with circuit board design with an understanding of signal integrity and power distribution network design.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, USB, SerDes, I2C, SMBus, etc.
  • Develop emulation/prototype systems using FPGA and with algorithm development experience, preferably with Xilinx.
  • Experience with medical devices and medical device engineering processes.
