About the position

Actalent, a global leader in engineering and sciences services, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their established civil and environmental engineering and surveying firm. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing the basis of design for various infrastructure projects. This position involves the coordination of electrical elements and directing the design team in the preparation of detailed drawings and specifications. The Electrical Engineer will provide essential engineering support across a wide range of projects, ensuring that all electrical systems are designed and implemented effectively and efficiently. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in low and medium voltage industrial distribution. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and single line drawings. Additionally, the engineer will support project construction by conducting on-site testing, system startup, and troubleshooting, ensuring that all systems meet the required specifications and standards. Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and hold an EIT certification, with a PE preferred. A firm working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), including Article 500 for Hazardous (Classified) Locations, is essential for this role. The Electrical Engineer will be expected to prepare procurement specifications for electrical distribution and controls equipment, contributing to the overall success of the projects undertaken by the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the basis of design for electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical elements within projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • EIT Certification required, PE preferred.
  • Expertise with low and medium voltage industrial distribution.
  • Experience in preparation and review of electrical schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and single line drawings.
  • Experience in providing support for project construction on-site testing, system startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Firm working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), including Article 500 for Hazardous (Classified) Locations.
