IDEX Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the ADS Product Development organization, which is part of our Water Services and Technology Business. This role is pivotal in modernizing our approach to design, development, and testing of innovative low powered, low maintenance IoT connected devices. As a leader in wastewater monitoring equipment and services, we are committed to delivering advancements that enable accurate and timely data-driven business decisions. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electronics engineering design of device circuitry, which includes researching, designing, and testing electronic components of hardware systems. This position requires expertise in circuit board layout design and certification processes, ensuring that our products remain at the forefront of technology and innovation. In this role, you will assist in transforming hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions that enhance our competitive edge and solidify our reputation as a trusted solutions advisor. You will engage in PCB design, layout, and placement of complex multi-layer PCBAs, focusing on producing low-cost, low-noise, and high-reliability assemblies. Your responsibilities will also include implementing electrical circuits to interface with environmental sensors, conducting electrical component research, and supporting part obsolescence and supply chain challenges. You will utilize a prototype and proof of concept feedback system to rapidly test design assumptions in both lab and field conditions, and design and fabricate test control apparatus and equipment. Additionally, you will be expected to execute engineering design reviews, participate in cross-functional stage gate approvals, and develop validation and verification test procedures to confirm product specifications. Familiarity with intrinsic safety requirements is essential, as you will support certification efforts for products designed for potentially explosive atmospheres. Collaboration with a small team to develop products within specified requirements is crucial, as is staying up to date on the latest technologies to drive creative solutions for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in transformation of hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions.
  • Provide electronics engineering design of device circuitry, including researching, designing, and testing electronic components.
  • Engage in PCB design, layout, and placement of complex multi-layer PCBAs.
  • Implement electrical circuits to interface with environmental sensors requiring excitation and signal conditioning.
  • Conduct electrical component research and support part obsolescence and supply chain challenges.
  • Utilize a prototype and proof of concept feedback system for rapid testing of design assumptions.
  • Design and fabricate test control apparatus and equipment.
  • Utilize ISO controlled design and development processes and required documentation via PLM system.
  • Execute engineering design reviews and participate in cross-functional stage gate approvals.
  • Develop validation and verification test procedures to confirm product specifications.
  • Support and execute against an auditable certification process for product performance in potentially explosive atmospheres.
  • Assist in all aspects of hardware engineering, offering innovative concepts to solve problems.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with a small team to develop products within requirements.
  • Remain up to date on the latest technologies to drive creative solutions for customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 2+ years of professional design experience in schematic and PCB layout design required.
  • Soldering and prototype construction experience.
  • Regulatory compliance experience (intrinsic safety experience preferred).
  • ECAD expertise (Altium preferred).
  • Working knowledge of regulatory certification processes and standards preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with low powered, low maintenance IoT connected devices.
  • Familiarity with environmental sensors and their applications.
  • Knowledge of ISO controlled design processes.
