About the position

The Electrical Engineering Designer at Stantec is responsible for preparing electrical construction drawings and specifications, collaborating with various design teams, and providing integrated engineering solutions for a range of clients. This role involves conducting site surveys, managing field construction activities, and ensuring compliance with electrical design standards. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares electrical construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with in-house design teams.
  • Designs electrical, utility-provided power distribution, standby power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems under senior direction.
  • Documents study progress/results through memos, minutes, and reports.
  • Provides technical support in client meetings.
  • Conducts site visit surveys for design information related to electrical service and fire alarm systems.
  • Prepares field information documentation of site visit surveys.
  • Reviews shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with construction document requirements.
  • Provides field construction management support including inspections and project close-out.
  • Adheres to corporate quality control and assurance processes for electrical design work.
  • Prepares electrical engineering analyses including short circuit and voltage drop studies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and EIT certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design and power distribution.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
