About The Position

Valero is seeking passionate and motivated Electrical Engineering Interns for the Summer of 2025 at various U.S. Refining locations. The internship program is designed to inspire the next generation of innovators by providing hands-on experience in challenging projects across several engineering disciplines, including Electrical (Power) Engineering, Process Controls Engineering, and Instrument Engineering. Interns will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of industrial power distribution systems, supporting refinery projects through the development of equipment design specifications, and performing engineering design reviews. They will also provide technical support during startup and commissioning phases, as well as lead initiatives aimed at improving electrical reliability. In the realm of Process Controls Engineering, interns will develop and implement control schemes within plant-distributed control systems, recommending options to optimize refinery operations. Additionally, interns will gain experience in Instrument Engineering by providing technical expertise for the specification, design, purchase, and commissioning of process instruments, troubleshooting instrument issues, and designing instrumented systems such as programmable logic controllers. The internship is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience, allowing interns to work closely with experienced professionals in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
