About the position

This is a paid summer internship. If you are looking for a great internship opportunity you've come to the right place! We are currently hiring and seeking talented individuals to join our growing team! If you aren't familiar with us, TPS is located in New Columbia, PA, and is a leader in thermal processing products and test solutions. We design and manufacture industrial and laboratory ovens and furnaces, and environmental temperature cycling and stability test chambers. Our product brands include Blue M, Gruenberg, Tenney and Lunaire. TPS provides equipment to a broad range of customers in different industries, such as, defense, aerospace, electronics, biotech, medical, pharmaceutical, lab animal science, energy, transportation, communications, commercial heat treating, die casting, agriculture, and materials processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the electrical engineering team with designing, developing, and supervising all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for industrial purposes.
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems and prepares electrical schematics, panel layouts, PLC programming, operator interface designs, and upgrades/enhances controls on existing products.
  • Works with the design team to learn work flow, drawing preparation and BOM structure.
  • Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, codes, standards and customer requirements.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Makes engineering changes/improvements within CAD environment and processes engineering change requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensures customers are satisfied, consistent with expectations.
  • Participates in design reviews with design team members and reads and interprets technical materials.
  • Provides product support on the manufacturing floor.
  • Employ both Digital/Software and Analog based methods of debugging.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (BSEE or similar) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, MS Office & BPCS.
  • HMI, PLC & Controller programming proficiency with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Watlow products as well as other platforms.
  • A base understanding of Ladder Logic, Database, Function Block, & SCADA programming within MS SQL, RSLogix (5,500 & 5000), Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench, AssetCentre, FactoryTalk (AssestCentre, View SE & ME, Transaction Manager, Historian), Composer, EZ-Zone Configurator, EasyBuilder Pro, Wonderware, WinCC, STEP 7, & TIA Portal.
