About the position

The Electrical Engineering Team Lead will oversee a team of engineers and designers within the Electrical Engineering department, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on design work. This role requires strong technical expertise, effective workload management, and a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process. The successful candidate will mentor team members, manage project scopes, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers and designers within the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Manage workload and allocate projects based on team members' capabilities.
  • Determine project scopes and create electrical system designs using software programs.
  • Communicate project status regularly with peers and supervisors.
  • Train and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management processes.
  • Ensure cost-effective system layouts and verify code compliance of designs.
  • Prepare and layout BIM drawings and coordinate with other disciplines during all project phases.
  • Perform construction administration tasks including site observations and shop drawing reviews.
  • Maintain excellent business relationships with clients and other professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering management and design of commercial buildings.
  • College degree in a related field required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Experience with various project delivery methods including design-build and fast-track.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of local, state, and national codes.
  • Prior Revit MEP experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft O365 and other engineering software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aviation, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities.
  • Strong conflict management abilities.
  • Ability to prepare original specifications for project systems.
