About the position

The Electrical Engineering Tech I position at Excelitas Technologies involves performing preventative and demand maintenance on industrial lighting systems. The role requires providing technical support to customers, both remotely and on-site, and includes responsibilities such as troubleshooting, documentation, and customer interaction. This position is critical in ensuring high customer satisfaction and effective service delivery in the field of photonic innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and demand maintenance on industrial light equipment.
  • Provide technical support for customers via phone and email.
  • Prepare quotes for service tasks and repairs.
  • Evaluate and repair electromechanical industrial special lighting equipment.
  • Conduct on-site preventative maintenance, startup, and training services.
  • Document work including scope of damage/repair and test/fault reports in SAP and CRM.
  • Execute assembly of electromechanical equipment for custom projects as needed.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through interactions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as sales and customer service when required.
  • Support goods receiving and shipping in the service department.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related area with 2 years of related experience, or high school graduate with 5 years of hands-on electrical and mechanical experience.
  • Experience in handling in-house service orders is mandatory.
  • Experience in handling on-site commission support is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Experience in reading electrical schematics and working with standard electrical test equipment.
  • Good knowledge of fault analysis and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with 3 phase 480V equipment.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and possibly for extended stays.
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively in verbal and written formats.
  • Independent and committed work ethic with a self-starter mentality.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colors on electrical components.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, or electronics.
  • Knowledge in occupational safety and machine controls (PLC technology).
  • Experience with CRM and SAP.
