About the position

The Electrical Engineering Technician will work under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, focusing on developing conceptual designs for rerouting power distribution systems in an operational facility. This role involves fieldwork to verify existing power routing and explore new routing options, particularly in relation to structures slated for demolition. The technician will leverage their expertise in reviewing engineering drawings and single line diagrams to ensure accurate assessments of current conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and confirm existing site conditions using engineering drawings and performing field verifications.
  • Investigate and determine optimal routing for power distribution systems.
  • Use AutoCAD to revise drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for conceptual design and drafting.
  • Physical ability to work in the field on a construction site under challenging weather conditions.
  • Strong focus on field safety.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems effectively.
  • Experience in project scheduling and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of NEC standards is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with 13.8 KV power distribution.
  • Experience with high and medium voltage switchgear.
  • Knowledge of motor control centers.
  • Understanding of motor schematics and electrical plan drawings.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation (DCS) connection diagrams.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay ranging from $45.00 to $50.00 per hour.
  • Full-time employment with expected hours of 40 - 50 per week.
