About the position

The Electrical Engineering Technician will support the design and integration of electrical systems for heavy-duty vehicles, focusing on electrification hardware such as generators, inverters, and converters. This role involves performing engineering calculations, assisting senior engineers, and collaborating with various engineering disciplines to ensure the successful development of electrical components and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering calculations and investigations under close supervision.
  • Support Senior Engineers in preparing plans, designs, and reports.
  • Work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Design electrical parts and components according to specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds.
  • Process engineering information through change notices and proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external engineering or business support disciplines.

Requirements

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with internship experience or six months of related work experience.
  • Electrification hardware integration experience (generators, inverters, converters, etc.).
  • Understanding of high voltage systems and high voltage system safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to create one-line architecture diagrams for a project.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and controls software.
  • Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.
  • Automotive/Heavy Equipment Repair or Design Experience.
  • Wire Harness design experience.
