About the position

The Electrical Engineer with Technology experience at AECOM will support the growing Buildings + Places business line, focusing on electrical engineering design work for various projects. This role involves collaborating with senior staff, assisting in the design of telecom and security systems, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards. The position is integral to delivering innovative solutions that contribute to sustainable infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under senior staff guidance.
  • Assist in the design of structured Telecom and Security cable infrastructure and pathways.
  • Assist in designing Telecom Room layouts and system details.
  • Conduct construction oversight, including site visits and compliance checks.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure project delivery within budget and schedule.
  • Write reports for internal and external purposes based on findings.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Principal or MEP Practice Leader.
  • Work cooperatively with managers and employees to achieve company goals.
  • Ensure discipline plans meet overall project team requirements.
  • Stay current on codes and technologies related to electrical, telecom, and security.
  • Organize and conduct site visits for data collection and evaluation of low voltage systems.
  • Develop designs within a BIM design environment.
  • Verify installed low voltage systems conform to project requirements.
  • Complete assigned engineering and design tasks according to client criteria and applicable codes.
  • Review work products of junior team members for quality and project requirements.
  • Assist junior engineers in design development and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or related field.
  • 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-4+ years of electrical and telecom consulting engineering and/or telecom experience.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD design software.
  • Strong preference for experience in Federal, State, and Local Government, Federal DoD, Healthcare and Labs, Corporate Commercial / Mixed Use, Mission Critical Facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills; articulate, assertive, and confident.
  • Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal skills to support engineering tasks.
