About the position

As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of data centers, making you the primary engineering resource for your region. You will engage with diverse teams to troubleshoot issues, lead engineering site audits, and support construction projects, all while focusing on customer-centric solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
  • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions to improve capacity and efficiency.
  • Lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location data center upgrades.
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability.
  • Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits, producing reports with risks and recommended mitigations.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities.

  • Organized with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget.
  • Possess leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
  • Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities.
  • Experience as a resident engineer or hands-on design consultant.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment related to data centers.
  • EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls system experience.
