About the position

The Electrical Field Engineer role is a direct hire position based in North Carolina, focusing on power distribution and specifically working with switchgears. The engineer will travel within a 3-4 hour radius to various job sites, with potential travel for larger outages. The primary responsibilities include serving as the on-site representative, ensuring safety, managing projects, and assisting customers with technical support and spare parts ordering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in Power Delivery, Medium & Low Voltage Electrification, Drive systems, Control Systems, etc.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative.
  • Preserve Safety Culture on every aspect and as first priority, in the field and always keeping an eye on co-workers.
  • Perform duties as the Project Manager for all assigned product lines and assist the customer with technical understanding of the operation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of multiple types of products.
  • Assist customer with spare parts ordering, issues resolution, and provisioning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field engineering role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience performing power systems analysis.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer support and the development of successful customer relationships.
  • Degree as an electrical engineer or an electrician if not experienced.
  • Ability and willingness to travel daily in the field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in repair troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing of assigned programs/hardware.
  • Experience with various electrical controls and systems including Mid-Voltage Switchgear, Low-Voltage Switchgear, Power Panels & Motor Control Center, Generators & Transformers Maintenance, Automatic Transfer Switches, Electromechanical Repairs, Wiring Diagrams, Blueprints & Schematics, Test Equipment & Instruments.

Nice-to-haves

  • High pot testing experience
  • Experience working with Powerhouses or E-houses
  • Experience with GIS (gas insulated breakers) Relay Testing & installation
  • Familiarity with PLCs & DCS
  • Experience with Parallel Switchgear
  • Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives
