About the position

The Electrical Field Service Engineer position is a critical role focused on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced machinery at customer locations. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently while traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada, with occasional international travel. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing new machinery, which includes electrical wiring, system start-up, commissioning, and diagnosing any issues that may arise during the process. In addition to installation, the role involves taking the lead on projects to ensure they are completed efficiently and on schedule. Troubleshooting existing equipment is a key responsibility, requiring the engineer to provide expert guidance and training to operators and maintenance teams on how to effectively troubleshoot and maintain the equipment. Preventive maintenance, audits, and servicing of machinery are also essential tasks that the engineer will perform regularly. This position is remote, but candidates must reside near a major airport to facilitate the extensive travel requirements. The role demands excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as interaction with customers is a significant part of the job. Responsibilities

  • Install new machinery that requires electrical wiring, system start-up, commissioning, and diagnosis.
  • Lead projects to ensure completion efficiently and on schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing equipment.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to operators and maintenance teams on troubleshooting and equipment upkeep.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, audits, and servicing on machinery.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in a similar electrical service or maintenance role.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical controls, wiring, PLCs, motors, and drives.
  • Competency with computer-based control systems and a basic understanding of networking.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in urgent situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer interaction.
