About the position

The Electrical Hardware Design Engineering Intern position at Leidos Defense Systems offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of defense and aerospace. Interns will work within the Space Sensors Electrical Engineering Group in San Diego, California, engaging in various design engineering activities such as concept development, implementation, and testing of electronic circuit board assemblies. This role emphasizes skill development and mentorship, providing a supportive environment for technical growth.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design engineering activities including concept development and implementation.
  • Test electronic circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs.
  • Engage in circuit board layout, signal integrity analysis, and power distribution network design.
  • Conduct technical trade studies and evaluate technology improvements.
  • Work closely with a mentor on tasks that enhance skills and contribute to program goals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Willingness to relocate to the San Diego, California area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.
