This position is specifically for an Electrical Hardware Design Engineering Intern within the Electrical Systems Department's Hardware Design branch. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of design engineering activities, including concept development, architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) such as power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs. Additionally, there are opportunities for skill development through participation in printed circuit board layout, signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, technical trade studies, and evaluation of technology improvements. The selected candidate will work closely with their assigned mentor on tasks that are beneficial to the intern's skills development and valuable to the programs they are working on. The ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design engineering activities including concept development and architecting.
  • Implement and test printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
  • Work on power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs.
  • Engage in printed circuit board layout and signal integrity analysis.
  • Contribute to power distribution network design and technical trade studies.
  • Evaluate technology improvements under the guidance of a mentor.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville - North Alabama, AL.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (or be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
