About the position

The Electrical Hardware Designer position at Steel Equipment Specialists involves leading the design of industrial control systems within the Electrical Engineering department. The role requires collaboration with the Chief Electrical Engineer and the Electrical Project Manager to deliver high-quality hardware designs for various engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLC and AC Drive system design, along with the ability to work independently and produce detailed documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial control systems under the supervision of the assigned Project Manager.
• Create panel designs and layouts, bill of materials, cable schedules, and wiring schematics.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations associated with hardware design.
• Utilize AutoCAD Electrical for all designs.
• Participate in hardware checkout phases and minor PLC troubleshooting and AC Drive configuration activities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in PLC and AC Drive system design with hardware systems such as Rockwell, Siemens, Lenze, GE Fanuc, Bosch-Rexroth, and Mitsubishi.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Knowledge of UL508A Standards for build practices and component selection.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and implement standard engineering practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Familiarity with industrial control systems and hardware design best practices.
