Thales is seeking an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to join our Navigation and non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is critical as it involves designing and developing schematics, circuits, and hardware for circuit boards, with a strong emphasis on both Analog and Digital circuitry. The NAS business segment is a part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit, which is renowned for its solutions that are utilized by over two-thirds of all planes globally for safe takeoff and landing. Our Ground Navigation portfolio includes the latest generation of ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) such as ILS, DME, TACAN, and VOR, as well as non-radar surveillance systems like ADS-B. With more than 10,000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance systems installed in 180 countries, Thales is a world leader in this market. In this role, you will be responsible for taking ideas from concept through requirement generation, design, development, and into manufacturing. You will create component-level schematics and designs, oversee the development of printed wiring boards (PWBs), and review designs generated by other engineers. Leading Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) will also be part of your responsibilities, along with updating previous circuit designs for obsolescence as needed. You will design component-level circuitry utilizing op-amps, transistors, ADCs, DACs, filters, and other complex integrated circuits (ICs). Additionally, you will be involved in designing next-generation Navigation and Surveillance Electronic systems at the schematic and PCB/PWB level for Analog, Digital, and RF circuits. The position requires performing systems and subsystem hardware integration and testing, as well as debugging PCB analog, digital, and RF circuits using various test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers. Mentoring and being mentored by other engineers and technicians to enhance overall skill levels is also expected. You will be responsible for scheduling and tracking project progress, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
