About the position

Seagate is seeking an Electrical Hardware/Software Design Engineer to join their Shakopee, Minnesota Design Center. This role is integral to the Electrical Hardware Engineering Organization, focusing on the design and analysis of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for hard drive products. The engineer will collaborate with a team to ensure design requirements are met through testing and analysis, while also creating detailed documentation and participating in design reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Design product PCBA's and perform tests and analysis to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Guide electrical CAD layout, creating guidelines and rules for robust signal and power integrity.
  • Participate in and facilitate design reviews.
  • Create detailed documentation including lab reports, compliance reports, schematics, drawings, and Bill of Materials.
  • Utilize high-speed interface analysis techniques with advanced measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
  • Assist with industry standard compliance measurement on high-speed digital interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to interpret component specifications, schematics, and PCB drawings.
  • Experience using measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, TDR, and VNA.
  • Experience with surface mount soldering.
  • Familiarity with ECAD tools, preferably Mentor Graphics Xpedition.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering design principles.
  • Experience with programming languages including Python, C++, Visual Basic 6 or VB.Net.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with MS Visual Basic, Excel, testing/data acquisition software Diadem and LabView from National Instruments.
  • Knowledge of Python GUI Development.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design techniques including transmission line theory and RF electrical concepts.
  • Experience with electrical CAD and analysis tools such as Ansys SiWave, Ansys HFSS, MatLab, HSpice, Mentor Graphics.
