About the position

Trillium Professional has a long-term opportunity in Foster City, CA for a Technician, Hardware Engineering. In this role, your work ranges from urgent one-off tasks such as soldering down breakout wires on a PCBA to complex, ongoing projects such as assembling and supporting the development of an ECU test setup built into a full-sized server rack. We are looking for candidates with technical experience working on electrical subsystems who have an eagerness to learn and grow their skill set. As a Technician, Hardware Engineering, you will: - Provide cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation. - Perform soldering and PCBA rework; wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN and BGA). - Provide test support, including test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation. - Assist in managing the inventory of equipment/consumables and guide proper use and selection. - Maintain a safe and organized lab environment and contribute to lab improvements. Responsibilities

  • Provide cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation.
  • Perform soldering and PCBA rework; wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN and BGA).
  • Provide test support, including test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of equipment/consumables and guide proper use and selection.
  • Maintain a safe and organized lab environment and contribute to lab improvements.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of prior experience in assembling, testing, and repairing PCBAs and cable harnesses.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, circuit board files, BOMs, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with EE lab equipment (e.g., soldering irons, digital multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Experience with hardware tools (e.g., crimpers, wire strippers/cutters, torque drivers, calipers, power drills, etc.).
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associated degree or higher in electrical/electronics/mechanical technology or equivalent.
  • Any of the following certifications: IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721.
  • Automotive industry experience, such as ECU assembly/testing, knowledge of SAE standards, etc.
  • Experience working directly with external vendors for lab equipment procurement and/or calibration.
  • Conducting failure analysis, providing feedback, and delivering informative documentation.
  • Shock, vibration, thermal, and/or IP test experience.
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and/or Python.
