About the position

The Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Technician is a highly skilled maintenance role within the City of Marietta, Ohio, responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex electrical systems and associated equipment at the Water Treatment Plant and other facilities. The position requires working under the supervision of the Water Superintendent and involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and ensuring the operational efficiency of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or install complex electrical systems up to 480 Volt AC.
  • Provide immediate corrective action to decrease equipment downtime when necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment including motor control centers, power distribution panels, and SCADA systems.
  • Obtain measurements and readings using electrical and mechanical testing instruments.
  • Perform electrical preventative maintenance, facility lighting maintenance, and sensor calibration.
  • Maintain records of daily work and repair work; modify schematics and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends when required.
  • Be available for emergency call outs (24/7) for breakdowns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2-year Associates Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation and Control, or Electrical Training.
  • Formal schooling in electrical, instrumentation, controls, and/or electronics trades is highly desired.
  • Five years of experience in electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls, electronics, and/or industrial and process control facilities preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard practices, principles, methods, materials, and tools used in the electrical and electronic trades.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Meet the definition and requirements to perform as a Qualified Person per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.332.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in water facilities is highly preferred.
