About the position

The Electrical and Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in the Clean Air Technology division at ANDRITZ, working closely with project teams throughout the design, procurement, and construction phases. This position involves adapting project needs to meet budget constraints and client requirements while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and practices. The role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and collaboration within a dynamic and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Audit industrial facilities and develop preliminary engineering designs and estimates for electrical and control systems.
  • Coordinate all electrical and controls engineering and design aspects of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Create and maintain project documents including PID, single line diagrams, control I/O lists, and electrical schematics.
  • Design industrial MV and LV electrical power systems, including electrical room design and motor control systems.
  • Support Purchasing and Quality Control in vendor product acceptability determinations.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects.
  • Design electrical and control components and systems based on project requirements.
  • Approve and certify electrical design calculations.
  • Perform system checkout, testing, and commissioning.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the electrical and controls engineering practice.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Research and compile information for client presentations and contract administration.
  • Apply expert knowledge of electrical and controls concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Perform field observation, measurements, or calculations.
  • Ensure application of defined Andritz procedures and standards in execution of work.
  • Assist with large capital project development, including feasibility studies and capital cost estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of practical experience with Clean Air Technology / Air pollution control systems.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of structural engineering on capital projects ranging from $500k to $50M.
  • Experience with structural design and analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, etc.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, ASTM, API.
  • Experience in construction activities for AQC systems on sites.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and similar design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Practical knowledge of North American standards and codes including AWS D1.1, IBC.

  • Knowledge of DIN/ISO/EN standards is an asset.
