About the position

The Electrical & Instrumentation Business Operations Manager plays a crucial role within the Wastewater Management agency, overseeing a team of electricians and instrumentation technicians responsible for the design, repair, maintenance, and operation of the county's wastewater pumping stations. This position ensures compliance with regulations, evaluates work productivity, and manages daily operations to maintain the efficiency of the wastewater collection system, which includes extensive infrastructure across the county.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of electricians and instrumentation technicians in the maintenance and operation of wastewater pumping stations.
  • Provide technical expertise in reviewing and verifying plans for rehabilitation and new pump station projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Personnel Regulations and Standards of Conduct among frontline supervisors.
  • Analyze work productivity and assess employee development opportunities.
  • Ensure adequate training for employees on assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate work production using Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Provide scope clarification to the Purchasing Department for services and materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings regarding pump station improvements and upgrades.
  • Conduct routine inspections of pump stations to identify improvement needs.
  • Utilize CMMS data to determine rehabilitation and repair needs of operating equipment.
  • Oversee and manage the work of outside contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience in an environmental, engineering, or construction management program.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Journeyman or Masters Electrician license.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical or instrumentation work in an industrial setting.
  • Experience managing projects and budgeting.
  • Experience overseeing preventive, corrective, and emergency repairs to industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturer's drawings.
  • Experience performing inspections of pumping station operating assets.
