About the position

The Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls Drafter Intern will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on the design of Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (E, I&C) for various Oil & Gas projects. This role provides an opportunity to apply computer-aided drafting skills while receiving hands-on training from experienced designers. The intern will assist in creating design deliverables, preparing layout and detail drawings, and performing calculations under supervision, all while maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design E, I&C scope for Oil & Gas projects.
• Create design deliverable packages using AutoCAD.
• Prepare layout, detail, sketch drawings and designs.
• Assist with calculations to determine conduit & cable sizes, cable tray fill, and lighting levels.
• Maintain effective communication with project team members, clients, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

• Currently attending a college or university pursuing an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design or a Bachelor's of Science Degree in an Engineering Technology discipline.
• Educational knowledge of standard computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in teams.
• Willingness to travel as necessary for client meetings and job site visits (up to 20% travel).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using AutoCAD software.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans and drawings.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Familiarity with P&IDs and Instrumentation wiring.
• Working knowledge of gas plants and gas processing.
