About the position

As an E, I&C designer at Sargent & Lundy, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on various Oil & Gas projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your classroom-based computer-aided drafting skills while receiving hands-on training from experienced E, I&C designers. You will be responsible for designing E, I&C scope for these projects, which will enhance your understanding of engineering principles and familiarize you with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures. Your role will involve using AutoCAD to create design deliverable packages, collaborating closely with discipline engineers and project managers. You will prepare layout, detail, and sketch drawings that require practical design knowledge. Additionally, you will assist with calculations under the supervision of a discipline engineer to determine conduit and cable sizes, cable tray fill, and indoor/outdoor lighting levels. Effective communication with project team members, clients, vendors, and contractors will be essential to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team as the E, I&C designer for multiple projects.
  • Design E, I&C scope for Oil & Gas projects while expanding knowledge on engineering principles.
  • Create design deliverable packages using AutoCAD, collaborating closely with discipline engineers and project managers.
  • Prepare layout, detail, and sketch drawings requiring practical design knowledge.
  • Assist with calculations to determine conduit and cable sizes, cable tray fill, and indoor/outdoor lighting levels under supervision.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members, clients, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Currently attending a college or university pursuing an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design or a Bachelor's of Science Degree in an Engineering Technology discipline (i.e., Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil).
  • Educational knowledge of standard computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, and start-up activities (up to 20% travel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs and Instrumentation wiring.
  • Working knowledge of gas plants and gas processing.
