About the position

The Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Superintendent at McCarthy Building Co. is responsible for overseeing the commissioning of I&C systems and Low Voltage start-ups on Water & Wastewater projects. This role involves managing schedules, liaising with various stakeholders, and ensuring that all systems are installed and commissioned correctly and on time. The position requires a strong background in construction management, particularly in electrical and low-voltage systems, and involves mentoring staff and coordinating with subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive commissioning schedule for all I&C systems and Low Voltage start-ups.
  • Review Contract Documents and suggest modifications related to I&C and low voltage commissioning.
  • Act as liaison with Commissioning Agent, owner, and subcontractors throughout the project.
  • Assist Scheduling department with developing detailed CPM schedules for I&C and Low Voltage activities.
  • Work with other Project Superintendents on Project Logistics and temporary facility requirements.
  • Review submittals and approve material and equipment for I&C and Low Voltage systems.
  • Monitor installation and start-up of I&C and Low Voltage systems with Engineers and Inspectors.
  • Coordinate activities and materials procurement with Project Managers and Field Staff.
  • Communicate progress and prepare reports for various stakeholders.
  • Represent McCarthy in I&C and Low Voltage process meetings.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor I&C and Low Voltage staff.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Construction/I&C and Low Voltage Coordination.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
  • General understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes, and Plumbing Codes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering is a plus.
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
  • Experience dealing with I&C and Low Voltage subcontracts and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work in a large team environment with a problem-solving mentality.
  • Determination to achieve results and communicate effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Water/Wastewater construction experience preferred.
