About the position

The Electrical & Instrumentation Designer V position at CDI Engineering Solutions is a critical role that involves performing routine to complex design assignments within the chemical, petrochemical, and refinery industries. This position requires a deep understanding of basic design techniques, industry standards, and instrument industry standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising junior design personnel, ensuring that all design work adheres to project and company procedures, and further developing their own job knowledge and abilities through practical assignments. In this role, the designer will coordinate with instrumentation vendors, solicit pricing, and maintain the budget for instrument design projects. They will also be responsible for reviewing schedules, advising management of any deviations, and preparing design man-hour estimates for new projects and design changes. The designer will check the work of other designers and drafters, ensuring quality assurance for their own assignments and mentoring less experienced designers. The position requires the designer to be sensitive to schedule requirements, keep supervisors informed of progress, and utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals to complete design work. Additionally, the designer will visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance and evaluate job sites to assess project requirements and conditions. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine to difficult design assignments requiring knowledge of design techniques and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of instrument design experience in the refining and chemical industries.
  • Experience in the design of mid to large instrument projects.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience in the consulting engineering industry.
