About the position

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing various industrial production and utility equipment in a continuous manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong background in maintenance, particularly in the chemical industry, and involves working closely with other technicians and facilities personnel to ensure effective operation and maintenance of plant systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform immediate corrective maintenance for chemical production and plant utility equipment.
  • Utilize engineering drawings to troubleshoot equipment/systems and identify appropriate job materials.
  • Assist Line Crew and communicate effectively with customers and management.
  • Learn processes for operational shutdown preparation and post maintenance shutdown turnover.
  • Prioritize service requests for timely completion.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and pneumatic instrumentation.
  • Maintain electrical infrastructure including secondary power distribution and motor controls.
  • Assist with project check-out and commissioning activities.
  • Help maintain facility lighting systems.
  • Complete assigned work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Document corrective maintenance notes for CMMS program.
  • Accurately record/report job time for KRONOS system.
  • Operate fork lift, man lift, and use hand tools and electronic test equipment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA, and OSHA Safety Procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with Certified Journeyman Electrician or equivalent technical apprenticeship program.
  • Associates degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Electromechanical Technology is highly preferred.
  • Five years minimum combined experience in industrial maintenance, utility, construction, or OEM check-out & start-up.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, primarily on straight night shift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with basic troubleshooting, repairs, configuration, and calibration of industrial instrumentation.
  • Experience working with industrial automation.
  • Prior work experience in a chemical or hazardous material production facility.
