About the position

As a Journeyman Electrician at CONAM Construction, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on the North Slope project in Alaska. Your work will ensure compliance with NPFA 70E standards and regulations, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within the facility. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and adherence to electrical codes, particularly in the challenging Arctic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, in compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NPFA 70E regulations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to enhance the reliability and longevity of electrical equipment, ensuring alignment with safety protocols.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine layout and installation procedures, adhering to NPFA 70 standards.
  • Collaborate closely with other trades and project stakeholders to coordinate electrical work within project timelines and ensure seamless integration with broader project objectives.
  • Uphold stringent safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment, demonstrating a commitment to NPFA 70E safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs and equipment documentation, in line with NPFA 70 requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Journeyman Electrician certification issued by the State of Alaska, with a strong understanding of NPFA 70 standards.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician in the oil and gas industry, preferably in Arctic environments, focusing on NPFA 70 compliance.
  • Proficient in electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair, ensuring strict adherence to NPFA 70 regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards, including NEC and NFPA, with emphasis on NPFA 70E safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, ensuring NPFA 70 guidelines are followed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with team members, emphasizing NFPA 70 and NPFA 70E compliance.
  • Physical capability to work in extreme weather conditions and lift heavy equipment/materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Certification.
  • Hazardous Locations (HAZLOC) certification.
  • Experience with electrical systems in hazardous environments, such as Class I, Division 1 areas.
  • Familiarity with specialized equipment for Arctic construction projects.
